2024 Awards & Recognition Ceremony

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the Villages Public Safety Department (VPSD) proudly celebrated its dedicated line staff with a combined award and retroactive pinning ceremony. This event recognized officers who had not previously received a formal pinning. The ceremony, held at the Ezell Recreation Center, was a heartfelt occasion to honor the service and commitment of our team.

Class 2401 & 2402 Pinning Ceremony

Earlier in the month, on Friday, November 8th, VPSD held a pinning ceremony for Classes 2401 and 2402. This event took place at The Villages’ newest Recreation Center, Saluki, further demonstrating the department’s commitment to celebrating the achievements of its personnel in meaningful venues.

November 2024 Incident Statistics

In November, VPSD responded to a total of 2,128 incidents, categorized as follows:

  • 76.5% Emergency Medical Services (EMS)-Related Responses
  • 23.4% Fire and Fire-Related Responses

The department remains focused on improving response times as part of its FY24-25 goals, aiming to achieve an average response time of 5 minutes and 20 seconds when fully staffed and with new stations operational. Currently:

  • 74.1% of fire calls were responded to within 8 minutes.
  • 68.6% of EMS calls were responded to within 8 minutes.

  • Critical/High-Acuity Average Response Time: 7.2 minutes
  • Moderate/Low-Acuity Average Response Time: 7.3 minutes
  • Total Transports: 1,321

  • Critical/High-Acuity Average Response Time: 7.3 minutes
  • Moderate/Low-Acuity Average Response Time: 7.9 minutes
  • Total Transports: 2,598
